1860: Courthouse constructed of 400,000 locally-manufactured bricks

The 1933 courthouse fire gutted the upper floors (including the courtroom) and destroyed the roofs -- including those of the porticos.

Fortunately, prompt action by citizens of Linden saved the rest of the building -- and virtually all of the records.
